LOVE LOOKS NOT WITH THE EYE,
BUT WITH THE MIND...
Therefore is winged Cupid painted blind...
My muse's beauty might escape most eyes;
I'm not sure even I can always see it.
Some people might say he was no great prize—
If that's their point of view, I say, "So be it."
Some features could indeed support such views:
That Hapsburg lip, a side-view somewhat simian,
But details of this order just confuse:
To me he is Adonis and Endymion.
His good points overshadow all his flaws:
His chest, his arms, his lips (good God!), his thighs,
But if he walks in beauty, it's because
He has a smile like sunshine, and such eyes...
I gaze into those eyes and glimpse a soul
Which gazing back in love makes my life whole.
