LOVE IS IN THE AIR...

Gene Robinson, Anglican bishop of New Hampshire, entered a civil union this weekend with Mark Andrew, his partner of almost twenty years. Robinson has long joked that he always wanted to be a "June bride."

One can argue about Bishop Robinson and the decision, by the diocese of New Hampshire and Robinson himself, to go forward with his nomination in fair knowledge of what the process would mean for the Anglican church. But anyone who has received the public drubbing and personal animosity such public figures generate, deserves our sympathy and respect. And everyone deserves the right to a public commitment that creates an outward form for the inward grace given by love.

Now let's get started on federal recognition, and stop insisting on the "M" word, which has been rejected in referenda in over forty states...
