NO CHOSEN PEOPLE...
The Soul A Chosen Land?

Welcome Aaron to the incredible growing conversation. He can be found at Paysage Choisi or in the sidebar under Shared if not Chosen, and he is joining us on this strange and terrible path, walking with apparent opposites held in each of our two hands... His first post is dated yesterday.

Also new to me is Hurricane, on-line several months, but just floating into my view, on the sidebar as Weatherman. Hurricane describes himself as a "recovering Mormon". Both of them come from traditions for whom an Exodus is the great historical event, so they know whereof we speak. And speak themselves.

And then there's another important voice: "B" at SH-out, or in the sidebar under Wife's Closet. For all of you who wonder what's going on behind our wives' understanding and patience, here is a voice from that "behind". With quite a sense of humor, I am happy to add; funny how everything becomes manageable if you can count on that sense kicking in at some point... my favorite "sixth" sense.

Please think about stopping by to say "hello" and let them know you are there, and who you are. It's not like we all have so many friends we can afford not to make new ones. Or is that just me?

Oh, and by the way: if there's anyone out there who hasn't seen Sandi Simcha Dubowski's deeply moving Trembling Before G-D, go find it. It is far and away the clearest and deepest statement of what it means to be dependent on religious community and also placed outside it; and important even for those of us whose "outside" is only internal...
Well, thanks for stopping by at all.
I will get around to posting all the "pop quiz" answers sometime... soon... ish.
Hang in there.

  1. Thanks for the plug, Troll.

Sounds as if you're going through a pretty rough time at the moment. I'll be thinking about you.
